Dispute Strategy: If you have lots of collections, dispute directly to the collection agency and do NOT dispute those accounts with the CRAs.
Most collectors now AUTOMATICALLY report the collections as disputed in response to CRA disputes.
There’s a great chance of getting a violation (no dispute notice on credit report) if you dispute only with the collectors.
Be sure to get your CRA DIRECT reports shortly after they received the disputes.
And the original creditor accounts should be disputed with the CRAs only. If you’re lucky, some will report the accounts as disputed so that they won’t be rated by on your credit score.
Just find some LEGITIMATE disputes, such as an incorrect high credit, balance, undated late payments, etc.
